Local Searches
When purchasing a property your solicitor will request "Local Searches" from the local authority (local government) where the property is located.
These cover a whole host of aspects including:
- What planning permissions have been applied for recently and which ones have been approved - major building works near the property may affect its future value.
- If relevant - does the property have the right to be connected to the mains sewerage.
- An environmental assessment of the soil the property sits on
